Boxers, as the name suggests, are an interesting Canine breed known for their sparring and swatting capabilities with their pet parents since they are incredibly playful and love to indulge in regular tedious exercises, or at least the one I own tends to keep me on my toes more than usual.

Even though they have moderately shorter height with muscular overall anatomy, they are far from being aggressive in nature, in fact, one of the best choices for both guarding and hunting since they are known for being complete social beasts.

Surprisingly having a slick yet dense coat, they do shed fairly well. Nevertheless, keeping them tidy and well-groomed strengthens their mental well-being but due to their agile instincts they may require special treatment and conditioning by caressing their fur with brushes every now and then, especially during the training phase.

Luckily for me, I have a quick yet handy list of best brushes for boxers that does the trick while ensuring my boxer remains a thorough gentleman throughout the day, so if my experience sounds captivating, you might want to consider sticking by to learn how these brushes have made my life easier during my endeavors while raising a boxer.

List of 5 Best Boxers Brushes [Tested]

Let’s begin with the list.

1. Professional Slicker Boxer Dog Brush [Recommended]

Features

  • 8.4 ounces
  • 672 Stainless Bristles
  • 4 Inch Pin Density

I call this one “MOAB”, the Mother of all brushes since it has all sorts of features you may require while grooming your boxer. Allow me to share my first-hand experience with you.

Self Cleaning Magic

Being a dog breeder myself, I know how tedious it is to go through my grooming brushes and nitpick each and every hair after a session, it’s no less than a chore and requires quite a lot of time and can become a challenge if you don’t know what you are doing.

Luckily for me, when I got my hands on this baby, my worries ended as my problems dealing with chunks of fur were rectified right away since it had a special push button right at the top of the brush.

Although I did feel a bit stiff when I was using it for the first time, eventually my thumb got used to it, so at the end of the day, it shouldn’t seem like a deal breaker at all.

On the flip side, it coughed up all the fur way better than I could possibly imagine, it’s truly a lifesaver because I have to nitpick little blobs of debris and mud after scrubbing my boxer whenever it’s sogging wet in the mud.

Gentle Use

Another aspect I really appreciate is how smooth and non-piercing the bristles are, matter of fact, how rough or coarse I use the brush right across my puppy, it never seems to hurt its skin or cause rashes which is quite a big deal for me as my boxer already went through a skin related health ordeal and i cannot afford to deal another one over such a miniscule oversight.

Hats off to the manufacturer for taking their time and being considerate enough to provide leeway for all the worries.

Why Do I Recommend the Professional Slicker Boxer Dog Brush?

There are plenty of reasons I would pick this brush over any other brand since it has a decent rubberized gripping and a self-cleaning button that lets me eject all sorts of fur particles which are usually quite clumsy to get out of bristles whenever I am cleaning it manually.

What Makes it Different from Others?

Considering the fact of how smooth the coat of a boxer is, this brush does an amazing job at preventing rashes and micro-damage to the skin even if you use it on its hair when it’s wet because that’s when the skin is in a vulnerable state.

Pros

  • Has Thick Rubber Grip
  • Self Cleaning Capabilities
  • Angled Pins for Gentle Surface Contact

Cons

  • Stiff Ejection Button At initial Use

2. Hertzko Self Cleaning Boxer Brush

Features

  • 3.2 Ounces
  • 5.8 Length
  • Integrated Fur Ejection Button

When no brush seems feasible for your beloved boxer, try the Hertzko Self Cleaning Brush which offers amazing ergonomics at a handsome price tag.

Perfect For Sensitive Dogs

While boxers are an amazing breed that display an apex level of affection and loyalty to their owner, they also require plenty of attention due to their outgoing nature, this also includes constantly grooming their slick and shiny coat which helps them bond better with their pet parent.

However, knowing their considerably thinner coat ratios, you cannot just pick any brush and scrub it across their body because even the slightest sharp prickle of the bristles causes rashes on their skin as they also tend to be considerably sensitive in nature.

The Hertzko self-cleaning helps you scrub your little puppy squeaky clean at the moment’s notice without worrying about putting your beloved pet in agony.

Even though I was told by my peers that it has considerably shorter bristles to remove tangles and mats from a dog’s body, I went out on a limb and still bought this because I knew it would be quite compatible with my boxer without causing many issues.

Lightweight

Weighing only 3.2 ounces, the brush feels like you’re not even carrying anything at all, but not all the glitters are gold here, the purple color plastic layer might be appealing to some consumers but nevertheless, it is indeed hollow, so in other words, the brush might not be strong enough to survive a foot long accidental drops.

But then again, it rocks an amazing ABS plastic grip with little protruding at each side, to prevent sweat accumulation all while providing enough friction whenever I am scrubbing through the stiffer fur of my boxer whenever he is dirty.

Why Do I Recommend the Hertzko Self-Cleaning Boxer Brush?

I would highly recommend this brush to anyone who owns a boxer since these breeds are known to have slicker hair and require constant massage to distribute the oils in their skin for healthy growth.

The light bristles help reduce stress and provide a comfortable massaging experience whenever I am combing the hair of my pet dog.

What Makes It Different From Others?

Although I have cropped the tail of my boxer, for places where my boxer has grown quite a lot of hair, and is prone to mats and tangles, the self-cleaning lets me remove these mats with minimal effort.

Pros

  • Has Retractable Pins
  • Lovely ergonomics
  • Lightweight
  • Easy to Clean

Cons

  • Plastic is Hollow

3. MalsiPree Boxer Dog Shedding Brush

Features

  • Stainless Steel Bristles
  • Dual Purpose Brush
  • 3.53 Ounces

I call this one the “Problem solver” for all the entangled mess my dog eventually perpetuates on its belly and back. Here is a brief review of this Magnificent brush.

Unique Rake Design

The MalsiPree Brush offers more than you could possibly bargain for because for starters, instead of fine nylon-based bristles, it has a rake-like double-sided combo that highly emphasizes de-matting and entangling across each nook and cranny of the dog.

My boxer doesn’t really go through a specific shedding season since it pretty much sheds all year long which makes grooming quite a headache because I have to deal with tons of hair fibers every day of the week.

However, the Rake combo easily eliminates these issues with just a couple of swipes. The best part about this brush is that the blades are pretty blunt so it never chafes off the skin even if I rub it vertically or horizontally.

Smoothens Hair

While boxers tend to have much silkier and flat fur, especially across their belly with white flashes that reach up to the neck, the one I own suffers from frizziness, especially during the humid season which causes his hair to become extremely stiff as they are curled up.

The 2-in-1 brush offers 90 stainless steel teeth which completely flat lines pretty much every friz along the way, giving my dog a gentlemanly look it always deserved.

Why Do I Recommend the MalsiPree Boxer Dog Shedding Brush?

It’s a tool with an apex level of versatility as the teeth perfectly align with both short and long-haired dogs, so once you invest in this brush, you can pretty much use it for any breed without breaking a sweat.

What makes it different from others?

The “Rake-Like” design makes it stand out of the crowd, its unique combing approach makes it way easier than regular combs and brushes I have used in the past.

Pros

  • Extremely Effective At Dematting
  • Does Not irritate dry skin
  • Glides Smoothly

Cons

  • Cleaning Part Can get tricky

4. HOP Short Hair Dog Brush

Features

  • 6.88 ounces
  • 9.57 inches
  • Wooden Handle
  • Dual Silicon & Nylon Bristle

Rocking both the brawn and the brains due to its dual-sided design, the HOP Short Hair Brush is the perfect answer to all your dog hair conditioning you always yearned for.

Perfect For Smaller Hair

The dilemma when dealing with dogs that tend to have smaller and much slicker coats is that you cannot just pick any brush to scrub against its fur since the bristles are only effective against hair that is longer and produces friction.

To counter a gliding aspect of the comb, the HOP short brush offers a unique approach as it offers silicon-based bristles that not only provide effective combing to rectify matters and remove tangles but also scrub the skin from all sorts of debris and even a natural massaging effect that regulates blood circulation.

It’s like you are hitting two birds with one stone because you don’t have to carry an extra massager to regulate the blood circulation of your dog every now and then since the “Greenside” of the comb would offer a similar effect better than you could possibly imagine.

Superb Ergonomics

I even love the fact that this brush not only caters to your pet dog but also provides comfort to pet parents since it has quite an astounding wooden grip that perfectly aligns with my hand.

Hats off to the manufacturer when designing the paddle. I appreciate that they even went over and beyond to polish it so it doesn’t absorb the oils from my skin it doesn’t have discoloration after using it for a longer duration of time.

Why Do I Recommend the HOP Short Hair Dog Brush?

If you own more than one boxer or simply hate carrying multiple brushes at once, it’s time that you give this dual-sided brush a chance since it will effectively solve all your fiascos in one go.

What Makes It Different From Others?

It might be a bit bulky when compared to other brushes but it certainly offers amazing value for money and has a premium build quality. On the other hand, the wooden handle is like the cherry on top.

Pros

  • Dual Sided Brush
  • Gentle and easy to use
  • Has a Lovely Wooden Handle

Cons

  • Considerably bulky

5. Chirpy Pets Brush for Boxer

Features

  • 0.32 Ounces
  • 5.5 inches
  • Stainless Steel Pins

The Chirpy Brush provides an excellent value for money making it a perfect “Dead Hair Removal” rake to keep my boxer neat and tidy, all day long.

Effective Yet Gentle

My boxer is considerably shorter in height and tends to rock plenty of muscle, especially around its hindquarters, which is why it has uneven fur that makes combing a tad bit more tricky than usual.

To top it off, I even ran into some occasions where combing regularly would cause a rash to develop especially across the neck region which is why I had to opt out for this brush since it’s considerably gentle and is way more compatible than the previous brushes I used to own.

Rather than running away which was pretty much the case during the grooming sessions, my boxers now lay down like the good boy he is and let me do the deed without wincing in pain, in fact, he doesn’t seem to be “irritated or mind” at all and loves every bit of the experience.

Lightweight & Easy to Use

It’s a perfect grooming and hair conditioning tool and I couldn’t ask for more considering the price tag it is listed for. The fact that it only weighs 0.32 ounces makes me wonder how they even came up with such an efficient and lightweight design.

In addition to that, it has a sturdy plastic body with 4-inch stainless steel so there is no chance of it catching rust any time soon even if you do decide to scrub your soggy wet dog whenever it’s out of the pool after a swimming session.

Why Do I Recommend the Chirpy Pets Brush for Boxers?

Ideal for both casual and professional dog breeders who like to groom their sensitive without irritating their skin.

What Makes it Different From Others?

It’s exceptionally lightweight, so if you do decide to pop it in your bag during traversal, there is no chance of it weighing you down.

Pros

  • Decent Build Quality
  • Gentle Stainless Steel Pins
  • Lightweight & Portable

Cons

  • Not effective Against Severe matting

Bottom Line

While nutrition and medication play a huge role in keeping your pet dog healthy and in perfect condition so that it grows its fur naturally without issues, grooming on the other hand, indirectly impacts how quickly it sheds its hair by regulating the blood circulation all across its body.

They may not seem like a miracle tool to cure all hair-related problems right away, but the rejuvenating effect they provide for the healthy growth of hair fiber makes them one of the best brushes for boxers.

Have a nice day.
