Cane Corsos are the behemoths of the dog world. They are one of the most toughest and fierce breeds that would do the job given to them even if they have to die for it.

This also means that once they decide something, it is difficult to change their mindset.

Thus, the use of aids like a correction collar becomes necessary at times. As a professional dog trainer who has worked with a bunch of Coros, I can vouch for their effectiveness.

How Effective Are Training Collars for Cane Corsos?

There’s not a single dog on planet Earth that gets away with its antics even after receiving training from a shock collar. Negative reinforcement works great for every dog and when you combine it with passive techniques, you have a dog that’s learned your ways for a long time before it needs a reminder.

Cane Corsos responds to training collars differently as they can be quite stubborn. Dealing with them requires you to observe patience during training and consistency, along with the proper use of the right product.

Maintain these three things and you’ll be good to go. While the first two are in your hands, for the third one, here’s a list of 5 of the best E-collars that I have tried and tested. Pick one that suits you the most, but first, an overview:

1. Vsezund Dog Training Collar for Cane Corso

If you’re Looking for a cheap collar that offers some good aesthetics to train your Cane Corso then look no further. Vsezund has got you covered.

Remote

Vsezund has made a very simple yet futuristic remote. There is a small LCD at the front along with buttons for the modes.

The size is comparable to a TV remote and easily fits my hand with all the buttons within my reach. Its buttons are spaced adequately so you won’t mess them over, also the display screen shows the mode in use and the battery life.

Lock Test

What I love the most about the remote is its lock feature. On sliding the lock given on the side, the remote can be locked. This means all of the modes cannot be accessed and the dog doesn’t receive any unwanted correction be it a vibration or a shock.

Collar

The collar looks like someone made a bigger version of an Apple watch. It has this beautiful and compact shape that comes with a nylon strap.

I loved its design because not only did it look good, but it defended itself quite well from the Cane Corso I used it on.

Also, the contact points are well-guarded by silicon caps and the size was perfect for a big dog.

The thing that I did not like in particular was the strap. Although the material would not irritate any dog, the straps are of average quality. I had to keep a backup strap in case it tears off after a few months of use.

Affordable

When compared to other collars from PetSafe or PATPET, it is considerably cheaper. But still, it outperforms other collars in its price range.

Battery

Contrary to the company’s claim of a 15-day life of the collar, it would last something around a week or more when in regular use. Overall, the battery performance is quite satisfying.

2. SportDOG Brand 425X Training Collar for Cane Corso

Before this, I was using the SportDOG SportTrainer 1275 which was amazing but I couldn’t recommend it to most people because of its heavy price tag.

Thus, I opted for the 425X to train a couple of Cane Corsos and here I am, recommending it to you.

Collar

Talking about the collar, it is made of good quality material and comes with both long and short prongs. The collar itself comes with a battery indicator that shows the charge left. 

As Cane Corsos can get a bit oversensitive at times so it’s best to not be too tough on them.

Thus, always use comfortable collars. This collar adjusts well on the dog’s neck and the prongs are designed to do their work without hurting the dog. The contact points are quite durable too and also non-allergic.

It does give you the option of controlling 3 collars with a single remote. However, the additional collars are to be purchased separately.

Durable

Most of the dog collars I use are waterproof. Not because I involve my dogs in a lot of water sports(that I do) but because being waterproof speaks for the product’s overall durability. 

Similarly, this collar comes with waterproof technology and has a sturdy build. This makes me relax as I don’t have to worry about it getting torn up by aggressive dogs like the Cane Corso.

Convenient Remote

The remote has a conventional design with 3 training modes of beep, vibration, and shock.

I rarely had to use the shock, for the most part, the vibration did the trick. 

However, if a Corso is too stubborn to listen to mere vibrations then rest assured, the 21 adjustable levels are there for you. This device will help you discipline your dog using the least amount of shock possible.

The only thing that disappointed me was that it doesn’t come with an LCD screen, which is a little odd considering its price. 

Dog Size

From my experience with 2 adult Cane Corso dogs, I can say that you are not going to face any problems regarding its size being too big or too small on your dog.

Long Battery-life

The non-removable batteries that this collar comes with take about 2 hours to charge and last 50-70 hours of work. This is true with some errors for both the collar and the remote. 

I would rate the batteries a good 4/5 in terms of performance.

Range

The range for the receiver is about 500 yards. It is the perfect range to cover both household and professional training sessions.

3. PECOLE Dog Shock Collar

This is my third time recommending PECOLE, before that. I hadn’t even heard of their products. Now I just can’t stop mentioning it in every list that I make.

Efficient Remote

This is similar to the Vsezund Dog Training collar mentioned above. It comes in a very ergonomic design having separate buttons up front for beep, vibration, and shock.

It has a small screen to show the battery life, the mode being used, and the collar number in use. 

I can use it with a single hand and even memorize the buttons as they are placed quite separately.

And just like Vsezund’s remote, it comes with a security keypad lock. Once locked, prevents any accidental use of the collar. This ensures the safety of my dogs.

Connects To 4 Dog Collars 

Another one of its amazing features is that 4 collars can be controlled via one remote.

Each collar has a number that is displayed on the small LCD of the remote. Shuffling between the remotes is also quite easy, this eliminates chances of error.

Adequate Battery-life

PECOLE claims that their batteries can last for 30 days on the collar and 45 days on the remote.

However, based on my personal experience, the remote battery lasts around 20 days with regular use, while the collar battery typically lasts around 2 weeks or sometimes even longer with regular use. 

One advantage is that these collars can be charged using any USB port, whether it’s from a laptop or a power bank. So while traveling, don’t worry about the batteries running out.

I’m in love with this collar for its safety lock and simple design.

4. Educator – Best Collar for Cane Corso Puppy

This is perhaps one of my favorite Cane Corso collars not just from the Educator series but also among all the collars I have tried and tested.

Remote

This remote has a unique stopwatch-like shape. This makes it fit perfectly in my hand and I can access all the buttons without ever having to use the other hand.

It also comes with a mini LCD screen that is super convenient to look at while using the remote. it displays the battery status and the current mode, so I don’t need to look at the collar every time I change the mode.

Pavlovian Tune

Let’s come to this remote’s major highlight i-e its Pavlovian tune. What’s that? you ask, let me explain. 

Every stimulation is preceded by a tune for the dog to get accustomed to it. With time your dog will respond to the tune without the actual need for vibration or shock.

There are 100 stimulation levels but for stubborn dogs like the Cane Corso, an additional 60 booster levels are also there.  However, it is less likely that you would ever need to use these as I never had to.

Comfortable Collar

These collars are made of Biothane, which is a strong and flexible material. With longer the dog’s skin remains tension-free. If your dog is allergic to metal contact points, there’s also a hypoallergenic titanium version available that you can buy. 

Overall, the collar is quite comfortable.

Sturdy

The collar is waterproof just like the SportDog collar mentioned above.

It didn’t show signs of damage even after long sessions of outdoor training with big dogs like the Corso and Pyrs.

Fits All Dog sizes

It doesn’t matter how hairy your dog is. If it’s 5 pounds or above, you will have no problem fitting this collar.

Decent Battery

The battery life depends on the specific usage. Based on my own experience, the collar battery lasted for a few days when in light use, while the remote lasted approximately a week. 

It’s quite decent in performance, sort of just above average.

Good Range 

A range of ⅕ mile is just ideal for all sorts of indoor and outdoor dog training.

When it comes to being a device of perfection, this has my heart.

5. SportDOG Brand YardTrainer Family Remote Collar

This is another SportDog collar that works superbly and its price is also quite reasonable, to say the least.

High-Quality Collar

I liked the overall build of this collar. It has a pretty strong and compact shape and is also waterproof. It’s also soft on the Cane Corso’s neck as the contact points are made up of stainless steel and they do not graze the dog’s skin. 

The material for the strap is high quality and I was satisfied as it didn’t rip because of the dog’s constant struggle to destroy it.

Analogue Remote

Its remote has the perfect size for a comfortable grip. The stimulation levels are conveniently controlled by a dial.

The overall working of the remote is quite simple. just charge the remote and collar, approximate them and they’ll get paired. There are separate buttons for tone, vibration, and shock. You can’t get confused with it.

Its dial tells me which mode and level are currently in use.

Adjustable Fit

For pooches, 8 lbs and above this is a perfect collar. The strap can be easily adjusted.

Very Sturdy

SportDog has always been making tough products that last quite some time. Waterproofing adds another layer to its product’s toughness. Because of the sturdiness nature of the YardTrainer variant, it is one of the best collars for Cane Corso.

I used it on a Cane Corso that I would take out a lot through creeks and rough terrain. The collar didn’t even budge. 

Charge Lasts Long

Similar to other fast-charging collars, this one took 2 hours to get charged. Once charged, the battery lasted around 50-70 work hours for both the remote and the collar. This is similar to the 425X discussed earlier in the list.

Range

A 100-yard range doesn’t sound enough, I know but honestly, it is all that you would need unless you’re sending your Corso on a solo mission across the Sahara which you’re not(I hope so).

For all indoor and most outdoor activities, it’s the perfect range.
