The red plastic controllers help you find the front buckles easily. I should give you a heads-up that the harness may not be adjustable for some types, especially for small dogs. I’m not suggesting that the mini Dachshunds I tried on achieved a poor fit. However, ordering the right size will matter a lot in that.

Comfort

The harness has been built for comfort as evident by its soft inside. I noticed the initial stiffness that went away by washing it a few times. I believe this has to do with the tough nylon used in making it.

After all, it’s a tactical device. It has to be a bit stiff. The padding of each buckle also adds to the comfort as they don’t dig into the dog’s skin during intense activities. Most of the time, the harness acts like a fully padded jacket that seems to have a calming effect on my test dogs.

As I said above, the harness is made for well-trained dogs. It has four adjustability points with two buckles at the rear. During my testing, I found that the product can be very much adjusted around the belly, but you’ll have to spend some time adjusting the neck portion.

To make up for that, I have to first loosen it up and then adjust it for a snug fit after wearing it on the dog heads first. That was a slight inconvenience given how skittish the test Dachshund was.

Also, a few times I found that it was challenging to access the rear buckles because they were often hidden within the fabric.

I believe that a little elasticity around the neck region could add more comfort and better sizing, but since this is an everyday harness, expecting a lot from it is a bit unfair.

Comfort

The whole harness is padded. This is where I don’t have any reservations because the dog absolutely loved its feeling. Just like the Icefang, the buckles of this one also are not intrusive.

However, unlike it, its front clip is placed high enough for even small dogs to benefit from it. Displacement prevents the leash from getting between the dog’s legs.

The harness is not for serious pullers and there’s a reason for it. Whenever the dog pulls from the side, the harness has the propensity to twist.

Although it did not seem to bother the dog, it was still an inconvenience for me because I had to reset the harness frequently. Again, I think it’s on me to use the harness for a curious Dachshund. And that is exactly why I draw the conclusion that you shouldn’t use it for a puller.

Effectiveness

It’s not that the harness does not reduce pulling at all. It certainly offers some degree of control over your dog during everyday walks. Comparing it to traditional colors, it definitely protects a dog’s neck.

I tested it on a 6 lb mini Dachshund for which the extra small size proved to be a perfect fit. I suggest that you also refer to the size chart because it is quite accurate and will help you order the right size.

In terms of adjustability, besides the elastic strings, you get four buckles and four adjustability points, which means achieving the snug fit is all the more possible. As compared to Icefang, it doesn’t have a belly adjustment.

That definitely puts a limit on the degree of adjustment for a small dog, but as I said, using the size chart will help you out.

I also want to mention that there were moments when I felt the harness could use a belly strap adjustment or the chest buckles shouldn’t be there. During high activity, I had to take off the harness to adjust it further on the dog. 

Comfort

Just like the Icefang, this one is also a tactical product with hard nylon as the core material. It’s not hard to understand, therefore, that it will be initially stiff. My dog was reluctant to slip into the harness at first, but with time and washing it a few times to soften it, I didn’t face that problem. 

The OneTigris is padded where it needs to be. As it is with tactical harnesses, this one also has extra flaps of fabric underneath the clasps to keep your dog safe.

Effectiveness

The harness is made for Dachshunds, who are fond of slipping out of their gear. All you need to do is achieve a snug fit around the neck, and the dog will find it hard to back off. For walking, the front steel D-ring proves extremely beneficial as it reduces pulling.

At the same time, it has been allowed more freedom, which gives the dog some room when it’s pulling. That accompanied by the plastic buckles may not be the perfect match for consistent pullers.

The materials used in the harness offer durability. In fact, it is one of the products that will serve you for a long time. Using it just for Dachshunds is akin to robbing it of its talent for all breeds, especially, the stubborn ones. I’ve used it for many other dogs and each time I was left impressed.

In its entirety, however, I do believe that the front D-ring could have been placed a little higher to discourage the leash from getting stuck in the dog’s front legs.

Right out of the box, I found the harness quite different from the rest because of its peculiar adjustability. There are only two buckles but 6 points from where you can adjust it.

The front straps have dual points that not only help you achieve a snug fit but also make putting on and taking it off the dog easier. Using them, I only had to adjust the harness once and that was it. After the test, the harness stayed in its position regardless of the degree of activity. 

While the adjustability is great, you should be mindful of the back straps that distort the harness’ shape when you tighten it too much. Seeing that made me believe that it’s not for a mini Dachshund, although achieving a smart fit isn’t impossible with them.

Comfort

It’s not as padded as the rest of the harnesses here. There’s some degree of comfort that’s enough for a dog, but I was particularly worried about the adjusting buckles sticking out and digging into the dog’s body.

Thankfully, that wasn’t much of a contention point since the product’s design allowed them to stay flat in their natural position. As an owner, you’ll have to be mindful of not accidentally twisting them when you’re putting them on the dog. 

Effectiveness

The harness is as effective as it can be for the price. I found out that its dual rings offer some control over your dog while reducing pulling to some degree. Again, it’s not for serious pullers, but it will withstand chewing and stop the dog from getting out of it. 

More than pulling, the harness is effective for Dachshunds with some back problems by distributing pressure evenly throughout the spine. While walking my Dachshund with it, I felt as if I was walking a miniature version because it gave me control over its entire body.

How To Stop A Dachshund From Pulling Using A Harness?

Stopping your Dachshund from pulling requires patience and structured training. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Use the lead for corrections when the dog starts pulling. This is to tell him that pulling on the leash is not acceptable. Before this, however, make sure that you have put on the harness snugly.
